We are preparing to celebrate the conclusion of our BYG grand finale here in NYC. It has been an amazing month and I can't even begin to relate all the stories of changed lives and the little miracles we have witnessed in so many ways. As I was thinking on all of this I reflected on Jesus instructions to his disciples in Luke 10 when they had returned from their own 1st century BYG campaign. They too were excited about what had happened reporting to Jesus what they found most impressive about their missions trip:“even the demons submit to us in your name.” Man, this was pretty heady stuff. Powerful! But I do think it is fair to say that often the things that impress us are not quite as impressive to God. The Almighty sees things differently than we do. Jesus corrected the disciples misplaced enthusiasm, “Don’t rejoice that the spirits submit to you. Rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” He isn’t telling them that what they saw was an illusion. He wasn’t’ telling them that what happened was insignificant. He was telling them the best reason for why they should be rejoicing. Their joy should be in what God had done for them and not in what they had done for God. Their joy should be in where they were headed and not in where they had just been. Their joy was not in their authority over Satan but in the certainty of their salvation. When the object of your joy is in something that is over and finished then the duration of your joy will soon be over and finished as well. True joy is based on heavenly promises, not on earthly particulars. That should be our focus. May the Lord give us the grace and humility to rejoice in His salvation through Messiah.

This comment is for David Brickner's newsletter entitled "Can someone help me understand!"

The article mentioned the "International fellowship of Christians and Jews". Several points were made, including some points in relation to Rabbi Eckstein, who is the founder of ifcj.org.

When I first read the letter I was completely shocked ( no exaggeration on my behalf). However, as I began to meditate on what was said, it made perfect sense. It was a brilliant article that touched me personally because I actually have supported them in the past with a financial contribution.

Anyways, to get to the point:-
The answer to the question is the close connection between Christians and Jews. I, as a gentile believer in Christ Jesus, look at Christianity and Judaism as one and the same. The reason being is that Yeshua Hamashiach is certainly the Jewish messiah. If someone believes in Christ, they also believe in the prophets and Moses. Jesus said: "If you believe in Moses, you would beleive in me, for He wrote of me" - John 5:46

God has given us christians a deep longing for the Jews to be saved. Our main prayers are for them to be saved and the peace of Jerusalem. We continue with this attitude because we know that God has not abondoned his people, and they will be brought in to his kingdom.

Nevertheless: "Jews for Jesus" are 100% correct. Even though "ifcj.org" reach out to the physical needs of the Jewish people, the true cause for the Jewish people is not addressed.

The Bible clearly states that whoever believes that Jesus is the son of God has eternal life, and whoever rejects the Lord does not have life, but that the wrath of God abides on them - John 3:36

It's a fact that all Jews and Gentiles who reject Yeshua as messiah are under God's wrath, and with this point of scripture I think it is a good thing that David Brickner pointed out that Rabbi Eckstein needs to be saved himself. For this I commend him.

In closing I would like to make two points:-

Firstly....where "ifcj" fail, Jews for Jesus make up. Jews for Jesus make the real difference by proclaiming the real issue; that Yeshua is our God and saviour.

Secondly....Open rebuke is better than hidden love (Prov 27:5) David has shown that He loves the Jewish people. It takes boldness and courage to write the truth. We all need this boldness to proclaim the truth, and not let our fellow man think He is going to heaven just because He/She is a descendant of Abraham.

Many thanks for reading this letter.

God bless your ministry
